The Mustang pitching staff was going to be strong this season, and Shane Melrose was poised to be a big part of that.
Shane is a three-year letter winner on the mound for us, a consistent starting pitcher last year, and someone who will play at the next level next year.
Shane will pitch at Linfield College. He brings a devastating left-handed slot from a long, lanky frame. He has worked extremely hard with Driveline Baseball to improve his pitching mechanics and generate more efficiency and velocity. Shane was ready to be 1A and 1B with Duncan Warriner this year.
However, for those of you that know Shane, his left arm isn’t the best part. It is his smile and the pure joy with which he approaches life. Shane is the best kind of happy/goofy, and treats people with kindness and laughter.
I have had the great pleasure to coach Shane since he was 14 years old, and I am going to miss the heck out of him and his ability to make me smile because of who he is and what he can do on the mound.
