Week three saw the Mustangs split their two games with Lake Washington. Tuesday night Redmond fell 5-0 to the Kangs in 8 innings and Friday night the Mustangs took the victory 12-3.
Tuesday at Hartman Park Redmond Ace Senior Ryan Rembisz dominated the Kangs hitters all night. He held Lake Washington scoreless through 6 innings while striking out 11. Senior’s Colin Curry (2-4), Seth Kreysar (3-4), and Ryan Rembiscz (2-4) all had solid nights at the plate. The Stangs threatened early and often, they stranded 8 runners through the first 3 innings, but couldn’t manufacture a run. Redmond continued to put runners on base all game, 14 total, but the big hit eluded the Mustangs. The teams were deadlocked at 0-0 after 7 when relief pitcher Cole Uyematsu worked out of a bases loaded no out jam to help send the game to extra innings. The night ended when the Kangs blew the game open with 5 runs in the eighth to earn the win.
Friday night at Lee Johnson, Senior Night for Lake Washington, felt very different. The Mustangs jumped out to a huge lead. In the second inning, Aaron Beltran, Bas Hertogh and Yuma Masaki all singled to load the bases for Austin Paul who drove in the game’s first run. A Lake Washington error and a walk led to two more runs then Seth Kreysar lined a single to left field to plate two more and put Redmond up 5-0. A Kai Drotz double drove in another run to put the Mustangs up 6-0. Back to back hard hit balls by Aaron Beltran and Ryan Rembisz led to the final runs of the inning that ended with the Stangs up 10-0.
The huge second inning proved to be too much for the Kangs to overcome. Three Redmond Seniors, starter Yuma Masaki and relievers Tyler Ferry and Casey Lennon Jones toed the rubber for Redmond and kept the Lake Washington bats quiet most of the night. Collectively they allowed just 3 runs to complete the win 12-3.
