Mustangs Come Up Short Against Islanders

The Redmond Mustangs could not keep up with Mercer Island Varsity Islanders 10-5 on Wednesday even after rallying in the bottom of the 7th inning.

#3 Hiroshi Johnson started on the bump for Redmond Varsity Mustangs. The starting pitcher allowed eight hits and 10 runs (four earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. #1 Kotaro Ishiyama relieved for one-third of an inning allowing one hit and zero run while striking out one. #2 Jay Heath pitched five innings in relief for Redmond Varsity Mustangs. The pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs while, striking out eight and walking one.

#15 Cavin Bowmer led the Mustangs with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The shortstop went 2-for-2 on the day. Bowmer and #9 Brandon Dayberry each collected two hits for the Mustangs. The Mustangs had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Bowmer, Heath, and Dayberry led the team with two bases on balls each.

The Mustangs will travel and play the Liberty Patriots in Renton for their next game on Friday, 3/28, at 4:30pm.
