Mustangs Breeze Past Liberty Patriots

The Redmond Mustangs easily dispatched Liberty Patriots on Friday, 8-1, at the Patriots’ home field in Renton.

The Mustangs got on the board in the second inning after #5 Leo Ciuca doubled, scoring two runs. #2 Jay Heath and #6 Chase Lawson both singled in the fifth inning each collecting an RBI. The Mustangs continued to add onto their lead and put a lid on the game in the seventh inning with a Patriots error, RBI singles by both #12 Lance Burt and #9 Brandon Dayberry and an RBI double by #11 Aidan Kim.

Lawson earned the win for the Mustangs. The righty surrendered eight hits and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking three. #15 Cavin Bowmer collected the save in two innings allowing no hit and no runs, striking out two and walking two.

The Mustangs tallied 11 hits in the game. Heath, Dayberry, Ciuca, and Kim each collected two hits while Bowmer and Burt each collected a hit for the Mustangs. Ciuca and Lawson each drove in two runs for the Mustangs. Heath stole three bases. The Mustangs stole seven bases in the game while Kim kept the Patriots to zero stolen bases from behind the plate by throwing out both their attempts to steal second base.
