Mustangs Triumph Over Wolverines, 7-2

Your Redmond Mustangs beat the Bellevue Wolverines 7-2 on Wednesday on the Wolverines’ home field.

The Mustangs got on the board in the top of the first when #15 Cavin Bowmer was hit by a pitch. In the third inning, a single by Bowmer, a sacrifice fly by #11 Aidan Kim, and a single by #8 Nolan Martin helped the Mustangs extend their early lead to 5-0. Bowmer gained his third RBI with a sacrifice fly, and Kim put the ball in play forcing a Wolverine error to score two more runs to make it 7-0 in the fourth inning. The Wolverines were able to muster a couple of runs in the sixth inning, but that was it.

#3 Hiroshi Johnson earned the win for the Mustangs. The starter allowed four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking one. #2 Jay Heath collected the save for the Mustangs allowing two runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one.

Bowmer led the Mustangs with three RBI’s. The shortstop went 1-for-2 on the day. Bowmer, #13 Isaiah McMahan, #10 Roman Collins, #12 Lance Burt, and Martin each collected one hit for the Mustangs. The Mustangs had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Burt and #6 Chase Lawson led the team with two walks each. The Mustangs turned one double play in the third inning when Bowmer fielded a ground ball, stepped on second base for the force and threw the ball over to McMahan at first base for the DP.

The Mustangs play their next game on Friday, 4/4, under their own Hartman Park’s Friday Night Lights at 6pm against the Inglemoor Vikings. GO STANGS BABY!!!
