Walk-Off Seals the Deal In Mustangs 3-2 Victory Over Highlanders

Your Varsity Mustangs took Wednesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 3-2 walk-off victory over Hazen Highlanders. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the seventh when #6 Chase Lawson was struck by a pitch, driving in #20 Aaron Larson for the winning run.

Both teams were strong on the mound. Mustang pitchers struck out eight batters in total.

A single put the Highlanders on the board in the top of the second. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Mustangs went back into the lead after scoring on a wild pitch, and a Hazen error, each scoring one run. With a sacrifice fly, Hazen tied the game at two in the top of the fifth.

#15 Cavin Bowmer earned the win for the Mustangs. The reliever surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking one. Lawson started on the bump for the Mustangs. The righty allowed three hits and one run over three innings, striking out three and walking none. #7 Sean Laizans pitched one inning of shutout ball for the Mustangs in relief. The righty allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking none.

Lawson led the Mustangs with one run batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. #12 Lance Burt led the Mustangs with three hits in three at bats.
